CHAPTER TWO HUNDRED AND FORTY SIX – ORGANIZING
"It could be a stream," Kayla mused. "Fresh water would be invaluable."
"Or it could be something else entirely," Amelia countered, her voice tinged with fear.
Before they could debate further, Richard's voice rang out. "Kayla! You need to see this!"
Helping Sarah to her feet, Kayla led the group towards Richard's call. As they rounded a large boulder, they found themselves facing the mouth of a cave, partially obscured by hanging vines.
"Well, I'll be damned," Marcus breathed, for once at a loss for words.
Kayla approached cautiously, her heart racing. "Richard, Marcus, what did you find?"
Richard gestured towards the cave entrance. "It's not just a cave. Look closer."
Squinting in the dim light, Kayla gasped. Barely visible, weathered by time and elements, was a faded symbol painted on the rock face. A red cross.
"Is that... a medical symbol?" Sarah asked, leaning on Amelia for support.
"It could be," Kayla replied, her mind whirring with possibilities. "But why would it be
