KADE’S POV “Hello, Alpha.” “David, hi. I need you to carry out an assignment.” I was calling my secretary instead of my Beta for two reasons. The first was that I was still pissed with him for the Gordon-antidote situation. The second reason was related to my recent discovery that Matteo and Luca were my children. Mason had been the one to present the evidence that squashed all my suspicions that the twins were mine. He’d been in charge of the paternity test; he’d told me I wasn’t their father. I would wait until I returned to New York to find out if there had been some sort of mistake or if the person I was supposed to trust the most—after my mate—had fed me an outright lie. For now, though, I didn’t trust him with anything. “Yes, Alpha,” David said expectantly. I proceeded to give him instructions to mobilize our pack warriors. They were an elite troupe that trained round the clock for battle. It didn’t matter that we’d had peace for a long time. That could always change in a heartbe
