The conversation continued for several minutes, with Derek becoming increasingly defensive as Olivia and Gerald poked holes in his arguments. Ava remained silent, allowing the discussion to unfold naturally.
Finally, Gerald shook his head. "I have to say, Derek, I'm not convinced. Your criticisms seem vague, and frankly, inconsistent with the data I've seen. Maybe we should schedule a more in-depth meeting to go over these concerns of yours in detail."
Derek forced a smile, but Ava could see the frustration simmering beneath the surface. "Of course, Gerald. I'd be happy to walk you through it all. If you'll excuse me, I need to make the rounds."
As Derek stalked off, Olivia turned to Ava with a knowing smirk. "Well played, Ava. I don't think I've ever seen Derek so flustered."
