Irene's POV
“Kaius.” I faced him, grinning sheepishly.
He came up to me and took my hand before he pulled me up into a tight hug.
“I missed you.” He kissed my head.
Words couldn't form from my parted lips. My eyes watered as I took in his scent. I had thought that I was never going to see him again.
I knew about my resolution that I made, but fear had managed to creep into my heart when I heard he was with Dad.
Maybe he had come to negotiate with Dad, or perhaps Dad has discouraged Kaius from our relationship.
“Why are you here?” I sniffed. “You never told me that you will be coming so soon.”
“I should have called you right?” he asked, pulled away from the high and cupped my face.
I nodded, eyes dewy. He chuckled slightly and bit his bottom lip.
“Well, I couldn't call you, darling.”
My heart budded up at the sound of the sweet name he called me. It gave me a bit of hope that maybe he didn't listen to Dad after all.
“Can I tell you a story?” He asked and pinched my cheek.
