#Chapter 29 Face Him
I stand in the midst of the cheering crowd, press cameras flashing to capture Aaron’s charismatic smile beneath those green eyes. I realize, after listening to his priorities and how vastly they differ from Henry’s, that Aaron and I are now political enemies.
After being married to him for six years, after looking up to him and observing him and admiring him most of my life, I already know what his next move will be. He’s going to continue using our past relationship to craft his image as a devoted husband and ally to an Omega.
There was a moment during his speech – just a flash – where I thought I even saw genuine relief in his emerald eyes, knowing I was alive. But like every other warm sentiment he’s ever shown me, it was gone before I could decide whether or not I had imagined it in the first place.
No matter what he pulls or pretends to be, I will not let my feelings sway me away from my new political goals.
Not that I have feelings for Aaron anymore.
