Mae’s POV
Henry will be here soon.
After I accepted the position as our party’s new candidate in the presidential election, all hell broke loose. Henry and I were separated in the ensuing chaos as statements were prepared and press was contacted. When I came back from a bathroom break, all my things had been moved out of my office and into what had been Henry’s.
It’s been a whirlwind.
I finally made it home and immediately called Henry. I want his support as I process this monumental change. He hadn’t been sure I’d want to see him after the rumors against him, but I assured him I did.
Relief washes over me at the knock on my door. Blaze whimpers in anticipation as if she’s longing for Henry’s embrace as much as I am, but I’m surprised when I open the door to find penetrating, green eyes staring back at me instead of Henry’s dazzling hazel ones.
