Mae’s POV
With Ruby in the shower, I get Blaze’s attention while I chop broccoli for dinner. Between taking care of Ruby this weekend and the surprise meeting with Aaron and Henry, Blaze and I haven’t had a chance to work things out since I forced a shift in front of the white Alpha last night. It’s time for us to move past her cold shoulder.
I can tell she’s deigning to give me her attention, but she remains silent within me. I sigh outwardly at her pettiness, even though I yield to it immediately. No use pretending I’m the one who’s ultimately in control here.
I apologize internally, telling Blaze that I wasn’t trying to mess things up. That I was scared and tired and lonely. That I need help, and not the kind I can get from Henry or my wolf.
I need the unconditional support and stability of my mate. I need to know who he is.
