Natalie's proclamation that she was a doctor had clearly given the bandits a sliver of hope.
As expected, Rory was stunned. The vicious glint in his eyes dimmed slightly as he gave her a doubtful once-over. "You're really a doctor?"
Natalie replied, "Yes, I am. It seems like your friend is in urgent condition. A fever in the wilderness can turn dangerous fast. Let me take a look at him. I might be able to help."
