LIAM’S POV
It had been days since we captured him. Days of pacing, questioning, strategizing. And still—nothing.
Alistair sat in the dungeon cell like he was on vacation.
Every time I went down the stone steps, I hoped to see some crack in his façade. I hoped for any emotion, maybe anger, fear, impatience. But no. He lounged on the chair with his arms crossed over his legs lazily, as if the rusted bars before him were decorative rather than a cage.
His dark eyes moved toward me whenever I entered. He always looked calm, calculating, and disturbingly amused.
It made my wolf restless.
Jason growled in my head. He’s dangerous, Liam. He wants us to think otherwise, but he’s playing a long game.
I knew Jason was right. That was why I never came down here alone.
Tonight, it was me, Zane, and Chloe.
Chloe stood just beyond the bars. Her eyes were fixed on Alistair. “He’s too comfortable,” she muttered. Her voice was filled with frustration. “Look at him. He’s not even trying to break free.”
