Chapter 294 A Glimmer of Hope
Sirens wailed in the distance and grew louder by the second. Several red fire trucks roared onto the scene as professional firefighters quickly set up a perimeter. They laid out hoses and began their rescue operation with practiced efficiency.
It didn't take long for the fire that had ruined so much hope to be completely extinguished. The smoke slowly dissipated, revealing the charred, twisted skeleton of the storage area.
"Don't stop me!"
Emily shoved Roman aside when he tried to support her and became the first to rush into the ruins.
Everything inside was blackened by soot and warped by the heat, while the air remained thick with the nauseating stench of burnt materials and dust.
She didn't care about any of that.
She fell to her knees and frantically dug through the debris that still radiated heat with her bare hands. She clawed at bricks, broken concrete, and charred wood.
Gabriel was here. He was buried underneath this mess.
