Chapter 83 The Breaking Point
Katelyn’s POV
The second they dragged me back, I knew something was wrong.
Lucas’s cries, so clear and desperate just moments ago, were fading too fast. That wasn’t normal. That wasn’t okay.
My heart slammed against my chest as I twisted in the grip of the two suited guards holding me.
“Let me go!” I screamed, jerking my arms, my voice echoing through the corridor. “My son is in there!”
I didn’t care how loud I was or how wild I looked. Every second that passed without hearing him clearly was a dagger to my chest.
Emily stood a few feet away, arms folded, eyes shining with that sick amusement she wore so well.
She watched like this was a show, like she wasn’t actively torturing a child.
She nodded once, smug. The guard closest to the door slammed it shut.
The heavy thud of it closing nearly dropped me to my knees.
“Lucas!” I screamed, shoving back with all my strength.
One of the guards cursed under his breath as I slammed my heel down onto his foot. He grunted and loosened his grip.
