Moira's POV
My eyes felt heavy. Perhaps they were swollen because I had spent thirty minutes in my mother's room, crying over her condition. The nurses must have been trying to comfort me by saying that there had been progress in Mom's condition, but what I saw wasn't the case at all.
My steps stopped in front of a door. I knocked and someone inside invited me in. A middle-aged man asked me to sit down, and from the look on his face, I knew he wanted to tell me the bad news I had already seen.
