Chapter 226 Medical Miracle
By the time they arrived in Glimmerdale, it was 4 a.m.—the hour, as some say, when the mind is at its weakest and despair is the easiest to find.
Both Tristan and Nova were rushed into the hospital. Tristan’s fever had come down, but Lionel wasn’t taking any chances. He insisted Tristan be admitted and arranged for a full health check.
Not that Tristan cared. All he could think about was Nova. “When’s your friend getting here?” he asked, barely able to mask the desperation in his voice.
Nova’s vitals were slipping. Time was running out.
“Can you move my bed a little closer?” Tristan asked, squinting at Nova’s pale form across the room. “I can’t see her clearly.”
Lionel looked at him, puzzled. “You? Not seeing clearly? Your eyesight’s perfect.” But despite the teasing, he got up and pushed the bed closer.
“She’ll be here soon, Tristan. Don’t worry,” Lionel said, trying to sound reassuring. “She’s the best there is.”
