I didn't expect Owen to go running to Harvey with my bandaid still on his hand. He had no sense of loyalty whatsoever. I cursed him silently in my mind.
"He said you have ulterior motives. Told me to be careful around you."
Harvey had a faint smile on his lips, but his expression was cold, like a hunter waiting for his prey to reveal a weakness.
I traced my crimson nail across his cheek and let it rest over his heart, like a snake slowly sliding forward, flicking its tongue. I pressed lightly.
Half joking, half serious, I said, "What would I be after? Your life?"
He grabbed my wrist and pulled me into his arms. "If you want my life, I'll hand it to you myself."
I hid the murderous intent in my eyes and acted like a proper mistress, pouting playfully. "I don't want that. I only want you and your heart."
"Don't paint your nails this color again."
I knew his first love had always been understated and elegant. She would never have worn such bold red.
I nodded. "Alright."
