#Chapter 224: Slave
Alexander’s POV
I had been betrayed.
Whether Helen and John realized the magnitude of what they were promising Margaret or not, it didn’t matter. What mattered was that they had agreed to help her keep me away from Ella. Away from my mate.
This was bad. Very bad.
My symptoms were rearing their ugly head, a wave of dizziness and nausea roiling through me from the excitement of the evening, but I knew I had to fight through them. I had to get to Ella before it was too late.
Before Margaret retaliated.
The medics crowded around me, trying to hold me down to the bed, but I mustered the strength I had remaining and shoved them back. My wolf momentarily surged, although he felt weaker, less capable.
“Alpha Alexander!” one of the medics exclaimed, stumbling back with surprise as I shot to my feet. “Sir, you’re ill—you really should be resting!”
“I’m fine. I need to get back to the gala. Now.”
