Carrie’s Point of view Once I couldn't run any further, I ducked behind a tree and tried to catch my breath. The figure had just been walking, so I figured I had some sort of a lead. I knew I couldn't outrun the thing forever though. Eventually, they would grow tired of the chase and catch up to me. That's why I have to find somewhere to hide. I think that is my best chance at escaping this. I looked around wildly, trying to spot somewhere to hide. I suddenly noticed a tree not too far ahead, that had low-hanging branches and thick pine needles. I looked around me to make sure the coast was clear, then got up and sprinted for the tree as quietly as possible. Once in front of it, I realized that the branches were higher than I thought. I nearly screamed in exasperation before I lifted my good arm to grab hold of the lowest branch. It was up to my shoulder, but I thought that if I could hoist myself up it would be easier from there.
