Elizabeth shot him another glare—she was trying hard not to take it out on her grandma, but all her frustration ended up aimed at him.
"Grandma, I don't even know him! Alexander comes from serious money, probably lives in a mansion ten times the size of our little place..." she argued, her eyes fixed on Alexander with clear resistance, even a bit of a warning in her look.
But Alexander just pretended not to notice and gave Old Mrs. Steele a sweet, innocent smile. "It's fine, Grandma. Elizabeth just helped me out, that's all. I can totally go home and take care of things myself."
"Oh, Alexander..." Old Mrs. Steele looked at him full of compassion. "Listen, I'm deciding for everyone—you're staying here a few days. Elizabeth, don't tell me I can't even host a guest in my own house?"
Now, with his good looks and that puppy-dog pout he pulled off, he was pretty much unstoppable.
Elizabeth was boiling inside, but managed to force a stiff smile as she said through gritted teeth, "Mr. Alexande
