Nathaniel furrowed his brows tightly, looking torn. "Melanie, you really crossed the line this time! If something's up, we should all talk it out. You always go behind everyone's back—it puts Caitlin in a tough spot, and I can't fix it for you."
Melanie's eyes widened in disbelief. "Seriously, Nathaniel? Are you taking Caitlin's side right now?"
Nathaniel shot her a warning glance, basically telling her to zip it. Then he turned to Samantha. "Caitlin, Melanie was in the wrong here. She ought to apologize. Yes, she let her personal feelings get in the way, but she meant well for the company. Can you let this one slide—for my sake?"
Samantha let out a cold huff. At least Nathaniel wasn't completely clueless. He played peacemaker well enough.
"Since Nathaniel's asking, I'll let it go this time." Samantha's gaze lingered on him as she spoke, clearly reluctant. "Just get her to apologize, and we'll call it done."
"Apologize?" Melanie practically exploded. Seeing Nathaniel agree with Samanth
