Chapter 23
We made small talk all the way to the restaurant - one I'd never even heard of might I add - before he opened my car door and the restaurant door for me. The girl at the podium gave him a stand-offish look before grabbing two menus and leading us to a more secluded area. When we finally sat down, the conversation was slightly stunted and awkward as we both mulled over what we wanted.
I pursed my lips while swirling my straw around in my glass, not sure of what to say to him or how to start a good conversation.
"So, you own that flower shop?" He asked. I didn't know why, but I suddenly got annoyed. It was just that I felt what I thought was a really good connection with this guy at first, but now he's just asking the same questions I get asked over and over again by everyone I meet for the first time.
"No. It's my mom's shop." I spoke, giving him the short and only partially true answer. I didn't feel like delving into detail, rather wanting him to
