Chapter 214
"Got it," Joshua said, his voice calm and free of any anger.
Only the weak would let their emotions get the best of them. He trusted Jasmine. He wasn't about to start doubting her without cause.
"I'll wait for you at the hotel entrance," he added.
"Okay," Jasmine replied. She exhaled softly, comforted by the calm in his voice. She was relieved that he didn't seem the least bit suspicious.
They weren't lovers, but she'd still been worried that Joshua might get jealous. Now, though, it was clear that he genuinely trusted her.
After she hung up, Jasmine noticed her phone battery was nearly dead. She dug through her bag for her power bank, then paused. She'd left it back at the hotel.
She looked up at the cab driver, a man named Bryan Coughlin.
"How much longer till we get there?" she asked.
His voice was low as he replied, "About ten more minutes."
Jasmine frowned and turned to the window. The scenery felt unfamiliar. It didn't look like the route she'd taken earlier.
