Chapter 38 Gregory Didn't Show Up That Night
Veronica looked at Gregory coolly and said, "This is who I am. If you don't like my attitude, both of you are welcome to leave."
Gregory's face darkened. "You—"
Camelia interrupted, "Gregory, please, don't. It's my fault." She continued, sounding guilty, "I forgot that Ms. Walsh is ill and clearly in pain; she must be in a terrible mood. I shouldn't have disturbed her rest. I'm so sorry, Ms. Walsh."
Gregory, however, found Camelia's actions utterly baffling. "Why are you apologizing?" he asked in irritation.
"I…" Camelia started to panic as she could sense that Gregory was displeased.
"Let's speak outside." With that, he turned on his heel and strode out of the room with Camelia following behind him.
Once the door clicked shut behind them, Camelia sat down on a nearby bench in the hallway. She wanted to slide closer to him, but the moment she moved, Gregory shifted away.
Camelia bit her lip at the blatant rejection.
Gregory asked, "Why were you looking for me?"
