In a quiet corner of the grand hall, Alexander and his little family had finally managed to escape the crowd's enthusiasm. Troy suddenly snuggled into Nina's arms, piping up in his sweet little voice.
"I'll take you," Nina stood up, about to lead him, when Troy said seriously, "Mommy, I'm a big boy now. I can go by myself."
His chubby cheeks and that earnest face were just too adorable-made you want to pinch him.
Nina felt her heart melt. She crouched down and gently tousled Troy's hair.
But Troy, clearly not thrilled, pouted like a mini version of his dad. "Mom, Uncle Jon said real men don't mess up their hair. Stop doing that, please. I'm growing up."
At just over two years old, Troy had clearly inherited Alexander's smarts, speaking with such clarity and logic in that soft, cute tone-it nearly melted Nina into a puddle.
"Yes, yes, our little Troy's already a little gentleman. Mommy won't ruffle your hair anymore," Nina said with a smile.
