Eileen's POV
Everything in me had been on edge lately. The way Amber had started to look more tired with each passing day, her smile dimming just a little more, her laugh not ringing as brightly—it gnawed at me. I couldn’t sleep without constantly checking on her. My heart felt like it was being held hostage by something I couldn’t quite name yet, but I knew it had to do with Lina.
I paced around, my heart racing as I kept replaying what happened that day. I couldn't forget about it. How did this happen? How did things get so out of hand? I should have known Jason would go down and stay quiet. I should have known he would have some other kind of trick up his sleeves. I fisted my palm in frustration.
