When Jareth looked up, he realized Celestia had been staring at him for who knows how long. Her gaze made him feel a bit guilty, though he managed to keep his usual indifferent expression-as expected from someone used to wearing a poker face in the business world.
He met her eyes calmly and asked with a flat tone, "Why would I buy something like this?" Even while denying it, he still leaned over to study the device with her.
"Does this thing even work?"
There weren't any obvious clues to confirm it, but once Celestia was suspicious, she wasn't the type to just let it go.
She turned the gadget over in her hands, mumbling with a hint of frustration, "Really? I thought maybe you got it. Well, whoever it was, if I find out, I'll make sure to thank them properly," she added sincerely.
As soon as she said that, Jareth's expression changed slightly. He didn't want to take credit for it, yet he definitely didn't want someone else getting the thanks either-what a contradiction.
