Jareth stared coldly, mocking amusement flickering at the corners of his lips as his annoyingly perfect smile appeared. "Out for dinner too?" he asked, clearly playing dumb.
Dexter's brows twitched at his words. He glanced up and locked eyes with Jareth, instantly catching the sarcasm behind that fake politeness. But he didn't respond, just stared back silently.
Seeing that, Jareth didn't bother to speak again.
The three of them just stood there, the awkward silence dragging on so long it felt like the air thickened-until a flirty, sweet voice cut through the tension like a knife.
"Jareth, where'd you go? I've been looking all over for you," called the glamorous woman who had come with him, swaying her hips dramatically as she made her way over.
She went straight to clinging on to him like a rom-com cliché. "You said bathroom, but I waited forever! I thought you'd ditched me!"
