Lucien winced as a sharp pain shot through his ribs, cold sweat instantly dotting his forehead. His face went ghost-pale, but he still managed to force out a dry chuckle through gritted teeth.
"A firefighter like you? No matter how capable, I doubt you'd have anything to do with the second son of the Hilliards."
