Conrad Hilliard gently pushed her back down by the shoulders.
“No need.” He looked at her, eyes filled with concern. “You’ve been running around too much lately. Just rest a bit longer.”
“I’m almost done packing. Not much left to sort.”
Conrad paused, then added, “Once we get there, I’ll take you shopping.”
Calliope Godfrey lay back down, one arm tucked behind her head, turned her face toward him, and quietly watched his busy figure moving around.
He was tall and lean, dressed in simple sleepwear that couldn’t hide his toned physique.
One by one, he folded her clothes neatly and packed them into the suitcase.
The room was bathed in the soft glow of morning light. Everything felt still and warm. Calliope was overwhelmed by a feeling of calm and tenderness she hadn’t felt in a long time.
