"Calliope, did you seriously marry some random guy just for that bit of stock? That's pathetic. I can't believe you."
Jonathan's glare was piercing as he slammed the marriage certificate onto the table.
"This marriage? I don't recognize it. A daughter of mine deserves a wedding with dignity, not this stunt."
"That's it for today. We're done here."
With a face like thunder, he stormed out of the conference room.
Everyone, even the lawyer, was momentarily stunned. He slowly picked up the certificate and handed it back to Calliope with a sigh.
"Ms. Godfrey, your father refuses to sign."
Classic move - just plain unreasonable.
Calliope had guessed he'd oppose her, but she didn't think he'd hit this new low right in front of all the shareholders.
A few of the senior board members walked over; Mr. Campbell, the lead, gave her a firm pat on the shoulder.
