Elaine and Matthew traded a helpless look, at a loss for words.
Julia slammed her fork down on the table. "I'm done here, so I'll take my leave. Thanks for dinner."
She didn't want to have a row with her parents over Xavier. She knew that they were just worried about her, but their persuasive words brought upon a wave of annoyance she couldn't stifle.
Why did both of them insist on persuading her to forgive? Sebastian was still involved with Penelope, so what about him was worth forgiving?
Thinking about how Sebastian might have already slept with Penelope, Julia felt a wave of disgust.
They were never going to get back together again. Ever!
"Wait, don't go," Elaine said, pulling Julia back down. "You haven't eaten much. We'll stop talking about it."
Feeling the warmth on her shoulder, Julia sniffled. "I'm not blaming you, Mom. I'm just annoyed, and I—"
"Okay, let's stop talking about this," Matthew cut in. "You don't come back often, so cheer up."
