Chapter 831
Melina's enthusiasm vanished, as if a bucket of cold water had been poured over her head. She suddenly felt lost, as if she could no longer hear the cheers around her.
Had everything she done been meaningless?
A dull ache settled in her chest. She felt hurt and disappointed.
But Andrew had always been like this. She was the one who had tried to change him, so what right did she have to feel upset now?
On the court, the team captain was shouting excitedly, "Andrew, stop focusing only on your girlfriend! Get over here! We're figuring out where to celebrate!"
Andrew didn't turn around. Melina didn't look either. It was as if the two of them were locked in their own world, unable to hear anything else.
Wyatt started to feel like he had said something wrong. Ever since he had tried to explain things earlier, the atmosphere between them had been strange.
Hearing the captain call out, Wyatt quickly ran over to block him. "Captain, they're busy! Let me handle the discussion for them."
The team knew Andrew's personality and didn't push further.
The court was filled with cheers and energy, but Melina and Andrew stood apart from it all, facing each other in silence.
Some people snuck glances at them. Some whispered while others watched them with envy.
But all Melina could think about was Andrew's words—that his mind was hard to change.
Andrew took her hand and led her off the court, away from the noise and the watching eyes.
Once they were in a quieter place, he was about to speak. But before he could, Melina cut him off. "Change your clothes first. We can talk after."
Andrew was still in his jersey. His body was covered in sweat, and he was standing in the cold wind. It would be easy to get sick like this.
Besides, Melina had a feeling that whatever he was about to say, she wouldn't want to hear it.
So, Andrew took her to the basketball club.
At the moment, all the members were still on the court, celebrating and planning the afterparty, so the clubroom was empty.
Andrew went into the locker room to change. Melina sat on a bench outside, absentmindedly twisting her fingers as she waited.
A short while later, the locker room door opened. Andrew walked out and sat beside her.
Melina curled her fingers, lowering her head slightly, avoiding his gaze. But she could hear his voice beside her.
"Angel, why haven't you asked me how I handled those two who tried to ruin our wedding?"
The question was sudden, seemingly unrelated.
Melina's body tensed. She had never asked what had happened to Delilah and Esther after they were taken away.
Now that Andrew brought it up, she said in a low voice, "They never saw me as family. So I don't care what happens to them."
Andrew's voice was calm but firm. "Angel, I'm not asking about your feelings toward them. I want you to understand mine."
