Chapter 838
Wallace immediately objected. "Who the hell eats that nasty stuff?"
"I do! It's delicious!"
"I swear, I'd destroy every last one of those things on earth if I could!"
"And I'd plant them all over the world!"
Wallace and Damarion started arguing again. Melina couldn't help but laugh.
In the end, they set aside a small patch of land just for the chameleon plant.
Andrew's garden, which used to be filled with rare orchids and precious flowers, had now completely transformed into a vegetable patch. During winter, they even built a greenhouse for the crops.
If outsiders found out that someone was using prime real estate at Oakread to grow vegetables, their jaws would probably drop.
Melina spent the afternoon with the two old men, helping with planting while also playing peacemaker whenever another argument broke out.
She was so caught up in the moment that she didn't realize how long Andrew had been gone.
Ever since she had gotten pregnant and had thoughts of leaving him, Andrew had barely left her side. Even if he had work to do, he always made sure she was within his sight.
But today, from the moment she had fallen asleep, he had already been gone for three hours.
Andrew had gone to the prison.
Lately, he had been watching how much Melina cherished the baby growing inside her.
She loved and protected the baby so much that she had even considered leaving him. It made him wonder why his own mother had given birth to him.
When he had been rescued at 13 years of age, his mother had been sent to prison. In all these years, he had never once visited her.
Now, as he waited in the visitation room, Andrew's expression was dark.
Before long, a guard led in a frail, aging woman. Sasha Clyne's hair was cropped short, and her eyes were dull and lifeless. She was wearing a prison uniform and looked terribly thin.
Andrew could no longer see any trace of the woman who used to indulge in a life of drinking and pleasure.
She sat down, her blank eyes looking at him. She didn't recognize him at all.
Andrew didn't say anything. He just stared at her indifferently.
After a while, Sasha grew impatient. "I don't know who you are, and I don't care. If you have something to say, say it quickly. I need to get back to work. Don't waste my time."
She assumed he was someone from the Wentworth family.
Over the years, the only visitors she had ever had were people sent by the Wentworths, and those visits had never been about anything good. They only came to remind her that she would never leave this place.
After a long silence, Andrew finally spoke his first words to her. "I'm Andrew Wentworth."
Sasha scoffed. So it was another one of the Wentworths. None of them were any good.
She stood up, ready to walk away. But after taking two steps, she suddenly stopped.
That name sounded familiar.
Then, her body stiffened. Her blank expression turned into one of growing horror.
She spun around to look at him again, her face twisting in shock.
