Chapter 14
Ashton's POV
I could tell Oliver had something on his mind, something he wanted to say, but he kept it to himself. He was probably torn between excitement and worry over his mate. I was happy for him. He is ancient; like, five hundred years old ancient. That’s a long time to wait for your other half. I sent a quiet prayer up to the Goddess, asking her to bless him. I hoped his mate would be willing to become a vampire like him. That way, they could live out the rest of their lives together. He deserved to find his mate.
But as we neared the hospital, I started to feel it; restlessness, heat rising in my chest. My wolf, Daz, stirred sharply, his voice pressing into my thoughts. 'She’s close.' My heart picked up. No. Please, no.
Goddess, don’t let it be Oliver’s mate.
There were three sisters. That’s what I kept telling myself. If my mate was here, surely it wasn’t the one in surgery. It couldn’t be. The Goddess wouldn’t do that to me... right?
I barely managed to throw the SUV into park
