Ashton's POV
“I like her,” my mother said with a proud smile. “She stood up for herself and her sisters. She’s going to be an excellent Luna for you, Ashton.”
Out of the corner of my eye, I noticed Oliver sitting at the edge of Maya’s bed, her voice soft as she murmured a question to him about the blood still on his hands. He stood and disappeared into the adjoining bathroom to wash up. When he returned, she looked at him gently and asked, “How did you get hurt, Oliver?”
He hesitated before answering. “I needed Trey to pay for what he did to you. He knows now, he will never lay a hand on you again.”
Maya leaned over and kissed his cheek, and I felt a quiet sense of relief settle over the room. She seemed more at ease now that he was by her side. The connection between them was growing stronger, and I was genuinely happy for them. They needed each other.
My thoughts drifted briefly to Gabriel and Meliza. I had made sure they could slip out while Rachel was distracted, despite her ridicu
