But Tyler had no intention of chasing after Mona. He sank back onto the couch, lit a cigarette, and said, "It's nothing. Her best friend lives in the next neighborhood. Whenever we argue, she just goes over there. I'm too tired to chase after her. She'll come back once she cools down tomorrow."
"But—"
"No buts. I know my woman. And don't take what Mona said earlier to heart. She's blunt and says whatever's on her mind, but deep down, she's soft-hearted. She's actually a good person."
To be honest, my first impression of Mona wasn't great. Partly because I had a stereotype about women who liked to dress up flashy, and partly because of my own assumptions.
I knew Tyler's ex-wife, Kendall Deleon. She was a sensible woman from the countryside, and I had a great impression of her. So, when Tyler moved on to a new partner, I couldn't shake the feeling that Mona was a homewrecker.
