Chapter 16
LUCIAN’S POV
“You know, for someone as smart as you pretend to be, your choice in women is downright tragic,” Mira scoffed, tossing her wine glass onto the side table a little too hard.
“First Elora, now Maya. You’re really making a hobby out of ruining your life. ”
I leaned back into the leather chair, arms crossed, watching her pace back and forth like a stray wolf ready to pounce. “Mira, I'm not in the mood for your lectures tonight.”
“No, you need to hear it, Lucian,” she said, stepping closer. “You married Elora because of some political strategy and she was already pregnant at the time, fine, I held my tongue. But now you're clinging to that marriage like it's sacred when she's already left you. And Maya? You think just because she's your fated mate, she's any different? She's Elora's younger sister, Lucian. Same roots. Same damage. What happens when she turns on you too?”
“You can as well take it out on the Moon Goddess while you're at it. I didn't choose Maya myself, did I?”
