Nicole But my moment of tranquility didn't last long. I spotted a sleek sports car parked ahead—a limited edition model that easily cost north of four hundred thousand dollars. Beside it stood a familiar figure draped in designer clothes from head to toe. Tiana Snyder, my half-sister, was examining her manicured nails with practiced boredom. I sighed heavily. Even in a neighborhood this large, I couldn't avoid running into people I'd rather forget existed. The irony wasn't lost on me that Timothy Snyder, the Alpha who had driven my mother and me from our pack, made sure his favorite daughter enjoyed every luxury while we had struggled to survive. I lowered my gaze and tried to walk past her without acknowledgment. Maybe she wouldn't notice me. "Nicole Snyder! Stop right there!" Tiana's voice dripped with contempt when I attempted to pass by as if she were invisible. I turned slowly, facing Tiana. "Do I know you?" Tiana's face flushed with anger, her chest heaving.
