We entered the city of Irethra as the morning sun bled across the horizon, painting the red dunes gold. Irethra wasn't marked on most maps—not because it was hidden, but because it wanted to be forgotten. The locals called it the City of Silence.
Stone buildings rose from the sand like bones, half-swallowed by time. Wind whispered through alleyways, and not a single market stall stirred. This was no place for tourists. This was a place built by those who needed to disappear.
Kaelos rode beside me, his posture rigid. Callista scouted ahead, her hood pulled low. I kept my cloak drawn tight too, though it wasn't for warmth. In a city like this, faces invited questions. And questions got you followed.
