Aisha's POV
The air in the wolf pack territory felt different after weeks away. The scents were sharper here, pine, damp soil, and the faint trace of fur that clung to every breeze. I had grown used to the Neutral Hospital's blend of herbs and sterile corridors, but this was home in a way my bones remembered.
I walked through the central grounds, watching the warriors spar in the open field. Their growls echoed under the afternoon sun, claws flashing in short bursts as they moved in sync. It was a familiar sight, but what struck me most was the absence.
There were hardly any women among them.
I remembered this imbalance from my younger years, but after the war, after watching she-wolves fight, bleed, and even die for the pack, the sight gnawed at me. So many of them had returned from battle only to be pushed back into the shadows. Their bravery had been temporary currency, valued only during crisis.
