Aisha's POV
I hadn't slept.
Not really.
Even with the bond pulling gently at my chest like a string tied between hearts, I had stayed curled up on the far side of the bed, staring out the window while Simon pretended not to watch me in the dark. We hadn't spoken since our argument. I couldn't yet bring myself to close the distance, not until trust felt whole again.
So when a knock came at the door just after dawn, it felt like a lifeline.
I opened it to find one of Thomas's messengers, breathless and nervous. "He said to come quickly," the young wolf stammered. "The Tigerkin... he's stirring."
Everything in me snapped to attention.
Finally.
The Tigerkin, the strange, brutalized man we'd found bleeding out had been unconscious for nearly a week. And we still had no idea who he truly was, or what had happened to him. That he was alive at all was a miracle.
I was more than happy to be treating such a special species. It took everything in me not to scream and dance at the thought of doing
