The text came at midnight. I’d parted ways with Seraphina, and had been staring at the ceiling, the image of her face on my mind, when my phone dinged, brightening the screen with the notification of a message from my trusted butler, and spy at home.
‘He’s at it again. Hurry!’
I didn’t bother thinking about anything else, as I bolted out of the door in a quick step, the image of my mother and sister huddled in a corner on my mind. The drive to the Kingswell estate felt like it had stretched for far too long, even though my Ferrari was at top speed as I dashed off the road.
