Chapter 844 I’m Here
Night fell. The lights from the ship were blinding. They shone down on James, clearly displaying his relief at dying.
Tamara’s hand trembled, and she glared at James. Her eyes burned with anger, but another emotion also took root in her gaze. Tears rolled down her cheeks uncontrollably.
“Tammy,” Sebastian said as he pulled her into his embrace. He could feel her trembling against him. Carefully, Sebastian took the gun from her and whispered, “I just received news from the hospital. Our children are okay. They were not poisoned.”
Tamara’s eyes flew open. “What?”
They weren’t poisoned…
So James didn’t inject them with another type of poison?
Sebastian noticed Tamara’s confusion. He nodded, “You heard me. They weren’t poisoned again. Our children are safe.”
They were safe. They were alive!
Tamara cried happy tears, and the gentle breeze gently caressed them away from her face.
The bodyguards released James.
He lay still on the beach. Blood was still flowing out of him, staining the sand beneath him. He stared blankly at the sky. What a shame that there were no stars out tonight. He slowly turned his gaze toward Tamara.
“Tamara, I’m sorry…” James finally apologized. It was late, but it was there—and it was after Tamara shot him.
“I truly did love you. I also feel guilty and regretful over my actions. But it’s too late for me now…” James struggled to speak. His face was stained red by the blood flowing out his mouth.
Tamara pursed her lips. She chose to keep her silence and continued staring coldly at him.
She listened closely to James’ apology. He was overcome with guilt and regret.
She knew instantly.
James was purposely pushing her buttons. He wanted her to end him.
He needed a way out.
Sebastian’s brows furrowed together. He noticed James was slowly losing his grip on life.
“In the end, you still ruined Tamara’s innocence. You’re a disgusting guy, James,” hissed Sebastian.
James sighed and took his final breath.
Tamara retraced her gaze. She said hoarsely, “It’s over.”
Sebastian hummed in agreement.
The ending was not perfect, but it was an ending nonetheless. What else could they have hoped for?
Sebastian gave his men a look, and they immediately took the corpse away.
…
Back at the hotel, Tamara was still lost in a trance.
She recalled this foreign land and city and the smell of steel and blood. Tamara dragged herself to the bathroom. “I’m going to take a shower.”
Sebastian observed her. He knew she needed some time to process this. He sighed, “Call me if you need me.”
Tamara nodded wordlessly and entered the bathroom.
The bathtub was filled to the brim with water. Tamara slowly sank inside. The warm water felt nice against her, and it sobered her up. After she washed herself clean, she exited the bathroom and saw Sebastian sitting outside.
Tamara paused. She had never noticed this before, but Sebastian seemed to have gotten thinner.
His jawline was sharper than usual, and his eyes had sunk in. Right now, his eyebrows were furrowed, and his lips were pursed. He looked worn out.
“Sebastian.” Tamara came up to him. She hugged him and guided his head to her shoulders.
Sebastian breathed in Tamara’s freshly-showered scent. He swallowed hard.
“Tammy,” said Sebastian. His voice had dropped an octave lower.
Tamara hummed, “I’m here.”
