Serena's POV.
As I settled into class, my phone buzzed with a notification. It was from my online contact G.
I unlocked my phone and read the message. The message read; “What's the progress on finding your mum’s killer?”
I let out a weary sigh, lately a lot has been happening in my life that I hardly remember about myself.
I couldn't possibly share the news with G just yet. He'd definitely ask questions, and I wasn't ready to explain.
For now, it was better to keep things to myself, savoring the moment and figuring out how to navigate the situation.
So I just typed; “No progress.”
Immediately he responded, “Why?! You are wasting time. The killer is living freely, they are watching you, is it until they kill you?”
The message hit me hard, and a part of me felt like it was dying. I bit my lip, fighting back tears. The pain and injustice stung – the killers were free while my mom lay in her grave.
