[Lucian’s POV] I felt Violet’s departure from the palace before any of the servants had even notified me. It was like there was a cord tied around my heart and the further away she became, the more painful it was to simply breathe. I couldn’t focus. There were important matters that had to be dealt with—mainly figuring out who was responsible for trying to kill Violet. It had to have been someone who was in attendance last evening.
