Chapter 700

Charlie ushered everyone inside, and soon, the makeup artists and stylists were streaming into the house. Maeve was still in a daze, trying to wrap her head around the sudden crowd storming in. Lyra excitedly shoved Maeve toward the bathroom. "Come on, we need to get you ready!" Maeve was confused. "What's going on? What are you all up to?" "I think Zee is going to propose!" Lyra exclaimed. Maeve let out a laugh. "Where did you hear that?" Lyra frowned. "Isn't it obvious? That's what we all figured! Why else would Zee spend so much money on getting you all dolled up?" "Zion promised Mr. Spencer Senior to let him handle the proposal and engagement. Knowing Mr. Spencer Senior, there's no way he's going to let Zion take charge." "Really?" Lyra's excitement deflated, and her shoulders slumped. "I thought it was a proposal! What a disappointment!" "Are you guys done yet? Make it fast! We're running out of time!" Charlie's urgent voice cut through the chatter. With Charlie's insistence, Maeve made her way to the living room. The makeup artist and stylist wasted no time and eagerly worked their magic on her. When they unveiled the custom designer dress, Lyra gasped. "This is tailored just for you! I have to say, Zee has fantastic taste—clearly a trait he inherited from me!" "Oh please," Charlie scoffed. "You wouldn't even have this dress if I hadn't bought it for you! Zion's taste comes from me!" "Right, like I ever asked you to buy me clothes! You're always begging me to let you—" "Hey! Can you just be quiet for once?" Charlie quickly covered Lyra's mouth, trying to stifle her protests. Watching the playful exchange, Maeve suddenly realized how well-suited Lyra and Charlie were. How had she not noticed that before? As she admired the deep burgundy gown, memories flooded back—she'd worn a similar color the first time she met Zion. Once the transformation was complete, Lyra gazed at Maeve in envy. The gown hugged Maeve's figure perfectly, with a silver belt adorned with rhinestones that accentuated her curves. The flowing skirt was both bold and graceful, and the off-the-shoulder design showcased her delicate collarbones and elegant neck. "And here are your heels…" Lyra placed the shoes in front of Maeve. When Maeve slipped them on, she transformed into a striking, commanding presence that was impossible to ignore. Lyra clicked her tongue and remarked, "Wow. You've got everything a woman would dream of—looks and style. I'm so jealous!" Maeve smiled at her reflection in the mirror and replied, "You're not so bad yourself, Lyra." Lyra sighed dramatically, "Sure, but every guy I meet just gets worse." Maeve instinctively glanced at Charlie, who was muttering under his breath, "See? That's what happens when your taste is terrible…" Lyra shot him a fierce look. "What did you just say?" "I meant… the car is here! Let's hurry!" Charlie said before quickly ushering Maeve downstairs. Intrigued by what Zion was up to, Maeve climbed into the car, only to realize that Charlie was behind the wheel. Maeve was taken aback. "You're driving?" "Of course! It's my side gig—Zion's part-time chauffeur," he replied as he downed the gas pedal. As they sped through the streets, Maeve's heart raced with anticipation. When they finally arrived, she looked out to see they had parked right in front of Mirage Group.
