Chapter 703

As Maeve watched in stunned silence, Zion approached her side. In a hushed tone, she asked, "What are you up to?" Zion smiled but said nothing, instead reaching out to take her hand. To onlookers, it appeared to be a public display of affection. Clara, observing from across the room, interjected, "Mr. Spencer, I understand that you and Ms. Scott are engaged, but this matter concerns Mirage Group. It's not really your place to interfere, is it?" Without looking up, Zion responded calmly, "Ms. Bellingham, show her." "Yes, Mr. Spencer," Zayla replied, placing the appointment letter directly in front of Clara. Her face turned pale as she read the document. Zayla explained, "Mr. Spencer invested eight billion dollars into Mirage Group a year ago, acquiring a 25% stake. This investment grants him full decision-making authority." "What? Mr. Spencer invested eight billion last year? For real?" "The appointment letter is right here. It can't be fake." "Goodness, an eight-billion investment a year ago makes him a senior shareholder, doesn't it?" Clara's face grew even paler. "This can't be! Mirage Group has been operating for a year, and I've never heard of this investment. I refuse to accept this appointment letter!" Maeve, watching Clara's disbelief, couldn't help but smile inwardly. When she loaned the eight billion from Zion, she had offered to mortgage the Scott family's properties and shares. When the Scotts went bankrupt and merged with Mirage Group later, Zion naturally received his share. Additionally, Maeve had given him some shares when Mirage Group was established, as an interest. She hadn't expected these shares would become significant in such a situation. Zayla responded, "Ms. Ramoz, this appointment letter is legally binding. If you dispute it, you may take it to court, though I doubt it will be effective." Frustrated by the stalemate, Clara retorted, "Even if Mr. Spencer holds 25% of the shares, I'm the general manager appointed by the Brooks Group. He has no right to demand my resignation." Feeling emboldened, she added, "Besides, I only had a minor disagreement with Mr. Foster out of ignorance. I've apologized. It's not a big deal, and I'm sure he won't mind." "Oh, no, please don't! I do mind, very much," Charlie interjected. His words deepened the tension on Clara's face. Charlie continued, "I have little patience for oblivious subordinates. Since Ms. Ramoz is appointed by the Brooks Group, perhaps you should give her a chance to pack up and leave, Mr. Spencer." As if considering the suggestion, Zion paused briefly before nodding. "That makes sense." "Mr. Spencer!" Clara protested. "Have someone pack up her office upstairs. I want to see a clean, clutter-free workspace in 20 minutes," Zion ordered. "Understood, Mr. Spencer." The elite secretaries from the Spencer Group promptly went upstairs to execute the order.
