"Almost missed the bus," a soft voice said behind Serenity. She turned around and was taken aback to find Lucas standing behind her. "Why did you board the bus?" she asked. "I still wanted to take you home. Since you declined my offer to give you a ride, I decided to keep you company on the bus instead," he explained. Serenity never expected that Lucas would take the bus with her. The driver said, "Please buy a ticket." Lucas rummaged around in his pockets and found a hundred-dollar bill. It was the only "loose change" he had. "Wait!" Serenity quickly stopped Lucas from putting the note into the ticket machine. "You're gonna buy a ticket with a hundred-dollar bill?" Lucas shrugged, "It's all I have." Serenity pursed her lips, then said, "Never mind, I'll pay for you. Put your money away." She swiped her monthly pass one more time, then walked to the middle section of the bus. It wasn't rush hour, but although the bus wasn't packed, all the seats were taken. Serenity found a g
