Her mother had called this morning, before the accident, before her day had gone to shit. She was in town and wanted to see Becky. It had been a while since they had seen each other and Becky was looking forward to it. Her mum was a textbook hippie, and Becky had grown up in a commune and home-schooled until she was old enough to know that it wasn't the norm.
