First Day at Work

First day of work and I am a nervous wreck. Derek assures me that it is okay and all I need to do, is serve the customers but I refuse and ask to be put on kitchen duty. The thing with this restaurant is, though you apply for one position, you have to work in all depending on what kind of day it is, and today we are short on kitchen hands and waiters because a group of them called in sick with the flu. Derek is hesitant but complies and assigns me as the dishes boy. I can't take the risk of someone recognizing me so kitchen duty is the best and safest option as I am naturally an introvert. Inside the kitchen everything is so hectic and crowded. I am forced to squeeze myself in a corner to wash the dishes because, today is a busy day which means loads of dishes that require lots of chefs must be prepared.
