Was I doomed to live like this forever? The thought filled me with helpless despair.
I tried every method—screaming, biting, refusing food. But Liam was like a breathing stone wall, silently absorbing all my rage.
I felt like I was suffocating, on the verge of being crushed by depression.
Finally, one day, I found my chance. I hid a small butter knife a servant had brought in with the jam.
When no one was around, I relentlessly sawed at the silver chain. It was, clearly, futile.
As despair washed over me like a tide, I suddenly stared at my own pale wrist—where the faint blue veins were clearly visible.
The moment the knife tip pierced my skin, warm blood snaked down my forearm. Though I felt my body growing colder, my consciousness didn't fade.
I could sense that, after an unknowable amount of time, someone screamed and rushed in. Then came Liam's voice.
He scooped me up, shouting for the medicine men. Soon, several figures who seemed like doctors were examining me.
