The car slowly came to a halt at the red light.
Chad turned around, his gaze burning fervently. "I don't want to get a divorce. Give me another chance, Willow, I'll cherish you this time."
His voice was deep and firm when he said, "I know losing our baby was a huge blow to you, but we could always have more in the future…"
"Chad!" Willow immediately cut him off. "You've never let go of Laurel in the past five years. Who are you trying to fool now?"
Her voice trembled slightly. "Didn't you always think of me as a younger sister? Shouldn't you respect my decision? The marriage contract clearly states that we'd part ways amicably—are you trying to go back on that now?"
Hurt flashed across Chad's eyes. "I don't like Laurel—I've always treated her like a younger sister. You're the one that I want to spend the rest of my life with."
His words burned into Willow's heart like a red-hot brand. She had to admit that for a moment, her heart skipped a beat when she heard his words.
